Hips Go, Shoulders Stay
Stops the shoulders spinning open from the top so the hips lead and the gap stretches.
X-FactorTransitionSwing Path
Use this if
You throw the trail shoulder from the top.
The fault
Throwing the trail shoulder from the top and coming over the top.
Steps
- Swing to the top and pause for a one count.
- Press into your lead foot and turn the belt buckle first.
- Keep your back to the target for a beat.
- Let the arms drop, then turn everything through.
- Hit 5 balls at 60%, then blend to normal speed.
Belt buckle goes; back stays to target
Reps
3 x 5 paused swings at 60%, then 5 normal swings
Why it works
When the shoulders start the downswing, the club moves outside and the gap closes early. Pressing into the lead foot and turning the belt buckle first, while your back stays to the target for a beat, stretches the gap and leaves the arms room to drop inside.
