Use this if

Your speed is spent before the ball.

The fault

Throwing the club from the top, so the clubhead's speed is spent before the ball (casting).

Steps

  1. Turn a club upside down and hold it just below the head
  2. Make full practice swings and listen for the whoosh
  3. Move the loudest whoosh past where the ball would be
  4. Rest between sets, then hit a few balls with the same feel

Loudest whoosh after the ball

Reps

3 sets of 5 swings with 30 s rest, then 5 balls with your normal club

Why it works

Holding the club upside down makes it light enough to hear where it moves fastest. Moving the loudest whoosh past the ball moves the clubhead's speed later, where it helps.
