Use this if

Your backswing is narrow and steep.

The fault

Narrow, steep backswing: the hands lift up over the toes and the lead arm folds.

Steps

  1. Set up with a mid-iron or driver.
  2. Push the club back low and wide as your chest turns.
  3. At the top, feel your hands over your heels.
  4. Pause one beat, then swing at 70%.
  5. Hit 5 balls keeping the same width.

Wide and around; hands over heels

Reps

2 x 5 rehearsals with a pause at the top, then 5 balls at 70%

Why it works

Letting the chest turn move the hands back and around keeps the arc wide and puts the hands over the heels at the top. From there the club has room to drop from the inside instead of being thrown over the top.
