Towel Connection Swings: the model golfer in position

Towel Connection Swings

A towel under the arms so the chest turn moves the club, then full swings to feel it.

Use this if

Your arms swing on their own while the body stops.

The fault

The arms lift and swing on their own while the body stops turning.

Steps

  1. Lay a towel across your chest and pin it under both armpits
  2. Take a 7-iron or shorter; make 9-to-3 half swings by turning the chest
  3. If the towel drops, the arms took over
  4. Variant: towel under the lead armpit only, for full turns
  5. Remove the towel and hit 5 full swings at normal speed

Turn the chest; the arms ride along

Reps

3 x 10 half swings with the towel, then 5 full swings at normal speed without it

Why it works

A towel pinned under both armpits drops if the arms run away from the chest, so the only way to swing is to turn the body. Keeping it to half swings with a 7-iron or shorter builds the connection without choking the width of a full swing.

You need

Towel, club, ball

At home

A headcover squeezed between the forearms works the same way. Irons only, 7-iron or shorter; not a driver drill.
