Lead Foot Back, Clear Hips
Pre-open the stance to feel the lead hip clearing back so the arms have room.
Follow-Through TurnBody Turn
Use this if
Your lead hip gets stuck and traps the arms.
The fault
The lead hip stays stuck in front of you, trapping the arms and stalling the turn.
Steps
- Set up square to a stick, then pull your lead foot back 4-6 inches
- Make 5 rehearsal swings, feeling the lead hip pull back and around
- Hit 5 balls from the open stance as unrecorded warm-ups
- Square your stance and start a fresh session
- Hit 10 balls with the same feel; judge these
Lead hip back, arms swing through
Reps
5 rehearsals + 5 open-stance balls (not recorded), then a 10-ball square-stance session
Why it works
Pulling the lead foot back a few inches pre-sets the hips a little open, which makes it easier to feel the lead hip moving back and around. Returning to a square stance with the same feel helps the hips keep clearing in the downswing.
You need
Alignment stick, club, ball
At home
Record only the square-stance swings: an open stance pre-turns the hips and inflates the reading.
