Hold the Finish for Three
Swing through to a full, balanced finish and hold it until the ball lands.
Follow-throughFollow-Through TurnSmoothness
Use this if
You quit at the ball and can't hold a finish.
The fault
Quitting at the ball: the swing slows or stops at impact and the finish falls apart.
Steps
- Pick a target and swing through as if the ball isn't there
- Finish with the buckle at the target, nearly all weight on the lead foot
- Trail foot up on its toe, chest past the target
- Hold for three seconds or until the ball lands
- Can't hold it? Drop to 70% until you can
Finish it, hold for three
Reps
Every ball for one bucket; 3 x 5 at 70% if balance slips
Why it works
Committing to a finish you can hold for three seconds means the body keeps rotating and the club keeps moving through the ball instead of stopping at it. If you can't hold it, something earlier was off balance.
You need
Club, ball
At home
If you tip toward the ball at the finish, check address pressure; if you fall back, feel more lead-foot pressure by impact.
