Long Arms Past the Tee: the model golfer in position

Long Arms Past the Tee

Swing through a spot a foot past the ball with long arms, not at the ball.

Follow-through
8 min · Range · Intermediate

Use this if

Your arms fold just after impact.

The fault

Swinging at the ball: the arms fold and the club stops just after impact.

Steps

  1. Push a tee in about 12 inches past the ball, on the target line
  2. Make three-quarter swings, brushing the turf over or just inside the tee
  3. Keep both arms long until the club passes the tee
  4. Let the arms fold only after that, into a full finish
  5. Hit 10 balls, watching the club pass the tee

Long arms past the tee

Reps

2 x 5 three-quarter swings, then 5 full

Why it works

A target past the ball moves your intent through impact, so the arms stay extended into the follow-through. The clubhead still curves back inside after the tee; the arms just stay long while it does.
