Same-Rhythm Wedge Ladder: the model golfer in position

Same-Rhythm Wedge Ladder

Change backswing length, not rhythm, so short shots are less likely to decelerate.

TempoFollow-throughConsistency

Use this if

Your short shots slow down into the ball.

The fault

Making a big backswing on a short shot and then slowing down into the ball.

Steps

  1. Pick one wedge and one target
  2. Hit 3 balls with the hands going back to waist height
  3. Repeat with hands to chest height, then shoulder height
  4. Keep the same rhythm and a full finish every time
  5. Note where each length lands, then repeat with another wedge

Shorter swing, same beat

Reps

3 balls x 3 lengths per wedge; 2-4 wedges

Why it works

Keeping the same rhythm and a full finish on every wedge, and changing only how far the hands go back, removes the urge to steer or quit. Each length then tends to land in a repeatable window.
