Glutes on the Line
Keep your seat on a stick behind you so the hips don't thrust at the ball.
PostureFollow-Through Turn
Use this if
You stand up or push the hips at the ball (range version).
The fault
Early extension: the hips push toward the ball and you stand up before impact.
Steps
- Stand a stick in your bag or a range bucket (or push it into turf) just behind your seat
- Address so your seat lightly touches it
- Backswing: trail glute stays on the stick
- Downswing: lead glute moves back to the stick by impact
- Half swings at 50% first, then build speed
Trail cheek, then lead cheek, on the stick
Reps
10 half swings at 50%, then 2 x 5 balls at 75%
Why it works
A reference just behind your seat gives the hips a job: trail glute on it at the top, lead glute on it at impact. That happens only if the pelvis turns and stays back instead of thrusting at the ball, which helps hold your forward bend until after impact.
You need
Alignment stick, club, ball
At home
At home use a chair or wall (see Chair Hip-Hug). Standing tall after impact is normal; this targets standing up before it.
