Use this if

You stand up through impact and want a feel to rehearse.

The fault

Standing up through impact: the hips thrust forward and the trail side tips back.

Steps

  1. Swing slowly to the top, no ball
  2. Let go with the trail hand and keep the club in the lead hand
  3. Swing down slowly, reaching the trail hand toward the inside of the lead foot
  4. Feel the lead glute move back as you reach
  5. Hit balls with both hands, keeping the trail-shoulder-down feel

Trail hand reaches for the lead foot

Reps

5 slow rehearsals, then 2 x 5 balls at 70%

Why it works

Reaching the trail hand toward the inside of the lead foot in a slow rehearsal makes the trail shoulder work down and around while the lead glute moves back. That is the opposite of the pelvis standing up into the ball.

You need

Club, ball

At home

Rehearsals are slow and no-ball; hit balls only with both hands on the club.
